The task for today was using two words 'Problematise' and 'Solutionate' which Tim and Neil had made up. We were put into groups of three and we had to come up with two different ideas which described how we felt about coming onto the course and what were are worries. Then we had to break it down to a single word.
The video we had to make was based on David Wilson's 'How Say' an animated creative video. It was where two people were sat opposite each other and were talking to each other via speech bubbles and movement. The idea was for us to fill the empty speech bubbles.
The two words which myself and the two guys came up with were 'communication and 'openness.' I felt like these were good words to use because communication was key for me. Before I started on this course I knew no one so I thought that it was important to talk to people and understand them in order to make friends. I also felt like 'openness' was an important word because if you don't speak to anyone then you won't meet people. These two words were hard for me because I am a very shy person.
We had to set up the tripod and camera within the box we were given and then placed the template which was the sheet of the 'man in chair' graphic which was from David Wilson's video. This piece of paper was placed underneath the camera and taped down using masking tape so it wouldn't move while we were filming.
Then we wrote out the spelling of the word a couple of times to check that we knew the spelling and to see if the word would fit in the box as both of the words were pretty long. The first word we decided to write up was 'openness' and we broke each letter up into three parts we did this so it would take more shots and it would look better when it was coming together while editing and speeding it up. A couple of the letters were hard to do because they were unable to be broken up into three parts but that was the only problem that we encountered.
After we had written up both of the words we took the camera off the tripod and and put the memory stick onto the laptop. We then edited it on Adobe Premiere Pro and sped it up to three bars per second because it was an animation piece which looked a lot better when sped up.
The video ended up being 10 seconds long. I think that this video was really successful because everything worked out really well. However the only problem was that there was a hand in some of a shots but when it's sped up it works well with it because it adds to the effect. If I were to do this again then I think that I would add drawings to the production because I think this would make it look a better as it does look rather plain with only the two words.
This is our final video.
